Thursday Thoughts - Help

Journal Prompt – Ask for help. Receiving is an act of generosity. It’s okay to ask for help. No one should feel shame in that. We aren’t super-human like in the movies! Even they need help sometimes! Write about something that you need help with, or a certain area of your life that you need help in. Use this entry to organize your thoughts if you are having trouble asking for help, or don’t even know what to say. Sometimes writing it out can provide clarity.


This was a big lesson I had to learn in my life. I am a very independent person and like to do things in a certain way, I am a perfectionist in many ways. Being this way led to many instances of burn-out. I was taking on too much, trying to control everything in my life.

I had to constantly tell myself that it was okay to ask for help, to lighten the load. I had to remind myself that I was human if that makes any sense. There still are some moments where I catch myself with miles-long to-do lists and tasks, but I stop as soon as I recognize it and ask for help. It has helped with my mental health in more ways than I could have imagined.


What you need help with may be different than what I struggled with, but this is just my story that I share as an example. I feel sharing each other’s stories can greatly help others. This is why I write these posts and not just share the prompt. Every journal prompt is relevant in some way.
